A Dream Come True: Our Kashmir Family Trip
Since childhood, I dreamt of visiting Kashmir—the Heaven on Earth. Last week, that dream finally came true. My family and I packed our bags and headed for a long-awaited journey to the valleys of Kashmir. It wasn’t just a trip, it was an experience that touched my soul.
House boat

We stayed in a beautiful houseboat floating on the serene waters of Dal Lake in Srinagar. What surprised us the most—there were no fans! Yet, we never felt the need for one. The cool breeze, the calm lake, and the magical silence were enough to make us feel nature’s embrace.
Shikara
We traveled everywhere in a Shikara, a type of traditional boat that glides smoothly over the water. It was peaceful, slow, and deeply romantic.

🥘 Food, Fruits & Flavours of Kashmir

We realised traditional dishes like Rogan Josh, Dum Aloo, and Kahwa—a saffron-infused tea that instantly warms the soul. The Kashmiri Pulao with dry fruits was aromatic and delicate
Kashmir isn’t just a feast for the eyes—it’s a paradise for food lovers too.
The local fruits were juicy and full of flavor. Apples, cherries, and walnuts were fresh from the orchards, and we even tasted honey straight from the combs!

🌹 Beauty Around Every Home
Every house we passed had gardens full of roses—big bushes blooming with red, pink, and yellow roses. It looked like each home was wrapped in nature’s hug. The flowers swayed in the breeze as if welcoming us with a smile. These little things left a big impression on our hearts.

Traditional Treasures: Culture and Handicrafts
Kashmir is not just about scenic beauty — it’s also about rich culture and warm people. The markets are full of beautiful traditional items:
Pashmina shawls – soft and warm, perfect for chilly days.
Handmade carpets – intricate and artistic.
Papier-mâché crafts – colorful and detailed.
Dry fruits & saffron – the pride of Kashmir, and perfect souvenirs.
The locals wear traditional Phirans and speak with such warmth and hospitality that you instantly feel at home. Their simple life and rich traditions are something we deeply admired.
